International Students’ Happy Chinese New Year
“丑牛玉角双如意,寅虎金斑一彩头。”随着笔锋或抑或扬, 一幅寓意吉祥的春联便跃然纸上,真诚的祝福洋溢在字里行间。
"The ox jade horns and the tiger with golden spots bring us double wishes and good luck." With the brush pen elegantly goes, an auspicious spring festival couplet stands vividly revealed on the paper, and sincere blessings overflows between the lines.
2022年1月25日,农历腊月二十三,是中国传统节日“小年”,江西省景德镇陶瓷大学国际陶艺工作室二楼大厅墨香四溢。
January 25, 2022, the 23rd day of the twelfth lunar month, is a traditional Chinese festival "Xiaonian". The hall on the second floor of the International Ceramic Studio of Jiangxi Jingdezhen Ceramic University overflows with ink.
景德镇陶瓷大学党委书记梅仕灿静气凝神,挥毫泼墨,现场为留学生创作的这副春联,不仅用一笔一画把新春的祝福倾注在笔端,还将古老的书法文化和楹联艺术完美融合。
Mei Shican, Secretary of the Party committee of Jingdezhen Ceramic University, wrote calmly and attentively. The spring couplets created on site for international students not only poured the blessing of the new year into the pen, but also perfectly integrated the ancient calligraphy culture and couplet art.
“我们家乡也过春节,但没有写春联、挂灯笼的习俗。”来自韩国首尔的留学生柳施亨说,中国春节的文化氛围更浓。
"Our hometown also has the Spring Festival, but there is no custom of writing Spring Festival couplets and hanging lanterns." Liu Shiheng, an international student from Seoul, South Korea, said that the cultural atmosphere of China's Spring Festival is stronger.
柳施亨在景德镇陶瓷大学攻读陶瓷艺术设计博士研究生。由于疫情原因,他今年放假都不敢回家与家人团聚,怕明年回学校会遇到大麻烦,完成不了学业,于是决定在景德镇过春节,感受独特的中国年味。
Liu Shiheng is a doctoral student in ceramic art and design at Jingdezhen Ceramic University. Due to the epidemic, he did not dare to go home to reunite with his family during the holiday this year. He was afraid that he would encounter big trouble when he returned to school next year and could not complete his studies, so he decided to spend the Spring Festival in Jingdezhen and feel the unique flavor of the Chinese new year.
“从2017年开始,我们每年都组织留在景德镇过年的留学生开展各种各样的迎新春活动。”景德镇陶瓷大学国际学院院长张婧婧说。
"Since 2017, we have organized all kinds of spring festival activities for international students staying in Jingdezhen every year." Said Zhang Jingjing, Dean of the International School of Jingdezhen Ceramic University.
今年学院组织留学生开展了“写春联、画瓷虎、迎新春”活动,还特别邀请了学校领导为留学生义写春联、“福”字、“虎”字,并向留学生赠送红灯笼、中国结等新年饰品。
This year, the School organized international students to carry out the activity of writing Spring Festival couplets, painting porcelain tigers and welcoming the new year. In particular, the University leaders were invited to write Spring Festival couplets, Chinese character "Fu" and "tiger" for international students, and presented them with red lanterns, Chinese knots and other New Year decorations.
“让因疫情不能回家的留学生在中国体验春节习俗的同时,感受中国传统文化的魅力,喜迎即将到来的虎年新春佳节。”张婧婧说。

“今年是我在景德镇过的第三个中国年。”来自喀麦隆的景德镇陶瓷大学博士研究生马可琳说,虽然自己很想念家人和朋友,但有热情好客的老师和同学陪伴,入乡随俗过中国年、学习中国文化,缓解了她的思乡之情,她非常快乐。
"This year is my third Chinese year in Jingdezhen." Ma Kelin, a doctoral student at Jingdezhen Ceramic University from Cameroon, said that although she missed her family and friends very much, she was accompanied by hospitable teachers and classmates. She did as the Romans did for the Chinese New Year and studied Chinese culture, which alleviated her homesickness. She was very happy.
“景德镇是个神奇的地方,对我来说是独一无二的。能在景德镇过中国年,我很激动。”来自俄罗斯圣彼得堡的留学生塔西雅说,中国传统文化有很多令人惊叹的地方,她非常喜欢中国的春节习俗,将留在景德镇过她在中国的第三个春节。
"Jingdezhen is a magical place and unique to me. I'm very excited to spend the Chinese New Year in Jingdezhen." Ta Xiya, an international student from St. Petersburg, Russia, said that there are many amazing places in Chinese traditional culture. She likes Chinese Spring Festival custom very much and will stay in Jingdezhen for her third spring festival in China.
塔西雅就读于景德镇陶瓷大学国际学院,是一名博士研究生,她先后在上海、成都过了两个中国年。
Ta Xiya studied at the International College of Jingdezhen Ceramic University. She is a doctoral student. She has spent two Chinese new years in Shanghai and Chengdu.
“中国各地过年的习俗虽然不尽相同,但无论是剪窗花、写春联,还是贴门神、挂灯笼,都是一样的。农村还能放鞭炮,喜气洋洋,热闹非凡。”塔西雅说。
"Although the custom of Chinese New Year is different across China, cutting window flowers, writing Spring Festival couplets, pasting door gods and hanging lanterns are the same. Firecrackers can also be set off in rural areas, which is jubilant and lively." Ta Xiya said.
来自意大利的留学生李曼说,这是她在景德镇过的第二个中国年,“中国过年非常热闹,从贴’福’字、吃饺子,再到拜年、发红包,每一项春节习俗都有独特的内涵,很有意思。”
Li Man, an international student from Italy, said that this is her second Chinese year in Jingdezhen. "The Chinese New Year is very lively. From pasting the Chinese character 'Fu', eating dumplings, to paying New Year's greetings and sending red envelopes, each spring festival custom has a unique connotation and is very interesting."
