The “Salute to A New Era: Exhibition Tour of Original Works of Chinese Ceramic Art Celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China” officially kicked off on the morning of September 25. Organized by the Publicity Department and the United Front Work Department of the CPC Baoshan District Committee, it aims at fully demonstrating the glorious course, great achievement and precious experience over the past 70 years since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, excavating the ideas and humanistic spirits of the splendid Chinese traditional culture, and further gathering strength to make new achievements. Zhang Xiping, former inspector of the Party Committee of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, Qin Xilin, Honorary President of the China Ceramics Industrial Association and Honorary President of Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute, and Baoshan District officials Wang Hong, Shen Weimin and Zhao Yi were present and activated the opening ceremony.

Wang Hong said that 2019 is the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 70th anniversary of the Shanghai liberation. Baoshan has been carrying out series publicity activities to demonstrate the glorious course, great achievement and precious experience over the past 70 years since the founding of the People’s Republic of China and to tell the good story of China, the legend of Shanghai and the chapter of Baoshan. The Ceramic Art Exhibition, as an important part of the series activities, will exhibit abundant works of different forms and profound connotation to sing the praises of the Party, the country and the people. It will enable the audience to better appreciate the glory of China over the past 70 years and draw strength from it to turn into the practical actions of seizing the opportunity for accelerated innovation development and to make unremitting efforts in building Shanghai into an international metropolis and realizing the great China Dream. It is hoped that more artists and people from all circles will learn about and take to Baoshan through this exhibition.

At the opening ceremony, Wang Hong accepted the donated work on behalf of Baoshan -- a vitrolite painting themed a cruise port which vividly represents the cruise development of Baoshan. Shen Weimin, Standing Member of the CPC Baoshan District Committee and Director of the United Front Work Department, granted the Certificate of Honor to 2 representatives of the participating artists; Zhao Yi, Standing Member of the CPC Baoshan District Committee and Director of the Publicity Department, granted the portfolio to 2 artist representatives.

The exhibition has received great support from masters of art from across the country and active participation from numerous young ceramic artists. 25 national masters, including 13 Chinese Arts and Crafts Masters and 12 Chinese Ceramic Art Masters, and many excellent youths and the middle-aged have taken part in the creation. 87 pieces (sets) of works recently created by these masters have been chosen for the exhibition and each of them is of distinct features -- the portrait of a great person, the review of an important historical event, the scenes of the magnificence country and the better life of the people, all eulogizing the Party, the country and the people. This exhibition will allow more people to appreciate the demeanor and talent of art masters, boost the transformation development of the city with cultural spirits, and gather strength, wisdom and consensus for building Baoshan into a modern socialist riverside new area.
