2020-05-26

French ceramic artist Kaori Kurihara’s ceramics are designed with reference to plants such as durian, cauliflower and banana. The artist manually adds relevant details, such as hinged fronds and striped or sunken skin. She said in a statement: “I draw inspiration from the plant world, paying special attention to form. Every element of nature seems to be repeating itself, but in fact its types are different. I very much hope that it can be in my mind. To form concrete fruits and be able to think about them through my own eyes."

Study pottery art at SEIKA University in Kyoto, Japan. She further refined her craft as a French resident, where she studied jewelry making, including the enamel technique that the artist now uses in her sculptures.

The artist exhibited her work at the International Biennale of Fine Arts and Crafts held in Paris from May 23 to 26, 2019, and at the Bernard Foundation in June 2019.
