General Plan for Work Collection

The International Academy of Ceramics, or IAC in short, is a non-governmental organization and official partner of UNESCO, representing the highest level of contemporary ceramics in the world. The mission of IAC is to provide opportunities for exchange and communication among ceramic artists, museums, galleries, collectors, schools and other professional institutions and to promote the development of contemporary ceramics, through exchanges in ceramic arts around the world and encouraging cultural integration. There are more than 900 individual members and group members within IAC from 74 countries or regions of all continents, and 113 individual members and group members from China (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan).

In order to better demonstrate the level of creativity and the characteristics of the style of IAC Chinese members, promote academic exchanges and cooperation among Chinese ceramic artists, and enhance the innovation and development of Chinese ceramic art, the "2023 Exhibition for the Works of IAC Chinese Members " will be held in Beijing Guozhong Ceramic Art Museum from December 20th, 2023 to January 10th, 2024, with the approval of the IAC Council. During the exhibition, High-end Academic Forum on ceramic art will also be held. The exhibition and forum will be conducted offline and online simultaneously. IAC members from all over the world are welcomed to participate in the opening ceremony of the exhibition and the academic forum online through Guozhong Ceramic Art Museum Metaverse Exhibition Hall. IAC members from China are welcomed to attend the opening ceremony of the exhibition and the academic forum in Beijing offline. The specific plan for organizing the exhibition is as follows:

(V) General Plan for Collection of Works:

1. Targeted Exhibitors: 113 IAC Chinese individual members and group members are welcomed to exhibit their works in the exhibition (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan).

2. Works to be Exhibited: Each member selects 1-2 latest new works to be exhibited in the exhibition and the maximum size of the works shouldn’t exceed 1.5 meters.

3. Application process: please firstly download the application form for 2023 Exhibition for the Works of IAC Chinese Members from the website of http://www.guozhongtaoci.com/, fill in the form and send it together with the electronic photo of the works and the picture of the artist to info@gic-bj.com. The photos should have simple background and could show the works clearly. 2-3 photos in front view and different views of each work should be provided; the photo resolution should be no less than 300dpi; the photo format should be RAW or JPG; the photo should be no less than 5M; and the name of the photo file should be in the form of the work name + size + material + creation time. The photo of the artist should be no less than 3M, and the name of the artist photo file should be in the form of the province (city) + artist name.

5. Shipping Time, Packaging and Charges for Shipping Works:

(1) Shipping Time: Please send the works to Beijing Guozhong Ceramic Art Museum between October 30th and November 30th , 2023.

(2) Packaging: The works should be properly packed in bubble cloth or pearl cotton packaging materials. Please do not use fragile foam board and other similar packaging materials. Then place the works in wooden boxes, attach instructions for unpacking and display, and make two copies of "Application Form for 2023 Exhibition for the Works of IAC Chinese Members " and two copies of photos of the works respectively in color prints, pasting one copy of those on packaging box and putting the other copy inside the packaging box.

(3) Charges for Shipping Works: The artist shall be responsible for the transportation fee, packaging fee, insurance and other related charges to ship works to Guozhong Ceramic Art Museum while the Organizing Committee will be responsible for the transportation fee of works and bear the relevant insurance charges when returning works back to artists after exhibition.

(4) Welcome artists to send works to the appointed address receiving the works for exhibition. Please contact the person in charge of receiving the works on working days and coordinate with them about the delivery time of those works.

6. Works Check, Acceptance and Insurance:

(1) After the works are sent (delivered) to Beijing Guozhong Ceramic Art Museum, if the works are found to be damaged during transportation, the organizing committee will take photos and inform the artist immediately. The organizing committee will not be responsible for any damage to the works or their packaging during transportation. To ensure transportation safety, please pack carefully and purchase transportation insurance, which is recommended.

(2) If the works are confirmed and checked without any damage, the organizing committee is responsible for purchasing insurance for the works during the exhibition.

(3) Duration of Insurance: After the unpacking inspection for confirmation, the works during the exhibition preparation period and the exhibition period (until the deadline to return the works) are within the valid duration of the insurance purchased by the organizing committee.

(4) After receiving the works, the organizing committee will take preventive measures to protect the safety of the works. In case of irresistible factors that cannot hold the organizing committee accountable(such as natural disasters, etc.) or that can hold the artist accountable,like the damage caused by the fragile materials and poor structure of the works, the insurance will not cover the damage.

(5) The organizing committee will purchase insurance for the works during the exhibition period and the transportation period of the works to return back to the artist, and the insurance cost shall not exceed 30,000 yuan for each set of work.

(6) In case of any damage to the works, it is necessary to follow the relevant regulations of the insurance company from which the organizing committee purchases the insurance.

7. Kindly Reminders:

(1) The artist who completes the application of this exhibition shall be deemed to agree to and comply with the provisions in this general plan of this program.

(2) The return or replacement of the works shall not be requested during the exhibition period.

(3) The organizing committee has the right to use portraits, exhibition, research, photography, video, publication and publicity for free and fair use of the participating artists and their works.

(4) The work shall not be used illegally, shall not be copied, plagiarized or used in violation of copyright laws. If there is any violation of the above provisions, the artist shall be responsible for the violation actions.
