The mottled beauty of British ceramicist Clare Conrad
Among the mottled land are the skins of time, the shadows of time, the marks of memory;
In the whirling light and shadow, there are weathered textures, flying thoughts, and surging notes;
Among the ancient rust and patina, is the sky of history, the original flavor of civilization, the beauty of brokenness...
In Clare Conrad's work, she tries to capture the heartbreaking beauty and the balance between dramatic weathering, corrosion, existence and decay. The coarse clay is used to realize the thin-walled and strong objects, and then the ruggedness and balance mass on the surface are cleverly manufactured to express the obvious randomness. The most important thing for random design is to use cautious and laborious methods to achieve it.
