      Artist Biography

      Xu Jianzhang was born in Liling, Hunan in 1953. He is currently a Chinese ceramic artist, senior craft artist, visiting professor of the Ceramic Institute of Hunan University of Technology, and standing director of the Art Committee of China Ceramic Industry Association.

      He graduated from Hunan Normal University in 1975 and joined the Hunan Ceramic Research Institute in the same year. Joined Hunan Taixin Porcelain Industry in 2002. For more than 40 years of art, he has been deeply involved in the field of underglaze art porcelain, and he is familiar with the importance of pigments, glazes, underglaze crafts and kiln firing to the artistic expression of ceramic works. In artistic creation, it emphasizes going deep into life and finding inspiration from life; in terms of artistic style, it emphasizes the use of light and color in the picture of the work, finely portrayed and rendered layer by layer, so that the work is soft, moist, transparent and full of moisture The artistic characteristics of the sense, and the rich sense of hierarchy, the pictures are vivid, real and ethereal, with a strong sense of the times and a distinctive personal style.

      The work "Dai Family Girl" is collected by the British National Victoria Albert Museum; "Lotus Pond Moonlight" is in the collection of UNESCO; the work "Lotus Pond Autumn Rhyme" won the 2015 China Ceramic Art Exhibition Gold Award; "Dream into Yao Chi" Won the second gold prize for works by Chinese ceramic masters. The author's name is included in "Who's Who in Chinese Arts and Crafts".
