杭州市拱墅区文化馆和蕴芳收藏馆将举办陶瓷艺术家许双双在杭州的首个个展“生·趣 Joy in Life”。此次展览将特别展出许双双为杭州特别创作的系列作品，并将首次亮相艺术家手稿及绘画作品，展期将持续至2023年2月15日。

Preface
The beauty of an object comes from the heart. Qi is the most concrete manifestation of ordinary things, and space has become an essential attribute of these objects. Therefore, such objects with spatial characteristics as similar to an individual’s mind, which embraces diversities. There is a unique quality, verve, and endowment within them. It drives us on a journey to search for meaning in life and to find the mission of objects that bring happiness and fulfillment.
The title of the exhibition "Joy in Life" is derived from the book "The Literary Mind and The Carving of Dragons" written by the aesthetician Liu Xie in the Southern Dynasties. In the aesthetic category, "life" means daily life, "joy" symbolizes the vitality of the works, and "joy in life" contains a kind of spirituality, inspiration, and whimsy. For Xu Shuangshuang, a ceramic artist, the "joy in life" is to apply clay to a second life. The exhibition shows more than 50 pieces of Xu's works, including ceramics, paintings, films, and archives, that will be displayed for the first time.
The exhibition space is like an unfolded storybook. The "Treasure Gates" in the center of the exhibition hall is like an introduction. The traditional objects inside keep silent as both participants and audiences wait to listen to the story of art thousands of years later. The exhibition breaks the limitation of traditional ceramics as a tool and explores their values beyond the traditional industry. In Xu Shuangshuang's art experience, ceramics are separated from a specific form but transferred into all beings, childhood memories, or abstract patterns, full of undisguised creativity and curiosity.
"If you lose your childlike innocence, you will lose your reality." We have always said that an artist should keep curious about the world. Behind Xu Shuangshuang's diverse ceramic works, she uses clay as the language to stay young at heart. Perhaps, this is the joy of life.

关于艺术家 ABOUT ARTIST
许双双
1994年出生于中国安徽，本科毕业于中央美术学院陶瓷设计，曾于美国阿尔弗雷德陶瓷学院交换，现工作生活于浙江杭州。
许双双以泥土为媒介，用感性的方式表达生活感悟、个人经历以及与世界的对话。她曾多次参与艺术工作坊，包括“BY ART MATTERS RESIDENCY之驻——「本地魅力」前汾溪交换驻留”和“十日复苏计划”等。作品多次在重要艺术机构展出，包括2021北京第零空间“无垠的絮语”个展， 2021 深圳国际会展中心“时间的温度——当代陶瓷创新交流展”，2020“燕郊双年展-一场冬日的对话”等，并获得中央美术学院毕业作品二等奖，天鹤奖国际创新设计⼤赛创新产品类优秀奖等。
Born in 1994 in Anhui, China, Xu graduated in Central Academy of Fine Arts with Ceramic Design major, exchanged in Alfred University, New York State College of Ceramics in 2018, currently works and lives in Hangzhou.
Xu Shuangshuang uses clay as a medium to express daily life, personal experiences also the world in a perceptional way. She participated in couple art residencial programs including “BY ART MATTERS RESIDENCY” in Qian Fenxi and “Revive in Ten” in Shanghai. Her works exhibited in many main art institutions, including “Infinite Whispers” in Space Zero (2021), “Temperature of Time--Contemporary Ceramic Art Exhibition” in Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center(2021), “A Dialogue in Winter-- 2020 Yanjiao Biennale” in Hebei (2020) and many more. She was also awarded“The Second Prize in CAFA Graduation Exhibition”and“Excellent Awards of DESIGNNOVA International Innovation Design Competition” etc.
关于策展人 ABOUT CURATOR

1995年出生于浙江杭州，目前生活和工作于上海。硕士毕业于纽约视觉艺术学院的策展实践专业。曾在外滩美术馆、上海当代艺术博物馆、加拿大温哥华列治文美术馆等艺术机构工作学习，担任加拿大艺术期刊CMA Journal的副主编。目前为上海艺观文化艺术项目负责人，廿號SPACE独立空间策展人，策展了“2021枫泾公共艺术季”、2021南京西三六空间“We, Land”、2021上海廿號space“迷失、眼泪与时间”、2020纽约MACP空间“21g+”等。作品刊登于芭莎艺术、ARTFORUM、雅昌艺术等艺术媒体平台。
Born in 1995 in Hangzhou, currently works and lives in Shanghai. Zhi has master degree with Curatorial Practice major in School of Visual Arts in New York. She finished her bachlor degree in Simon Fraser University in Canada with Visual Culture and Cinema Studies major.
Zhi used to work and intern in Rockbund Art Museum, Power Station of Art and Richmond Art Gallery in Vancouver in curatorial department. Also worked as associate editor in CMA Art Journal. She is currently working in ArtLink Shanghai as an art project manager, curated “Fengjing Public Art Festival 2021” , “We, Land” in Nanjing West36 Gallery(2021), “ Fears, Tears, Years” in Shanghai 20th Space (2021), “21g+” in MACP Space in New York (2020) etc. Her writing was published in Bazzar Art, ArtForum, Artron and other art platforms.
